I live in a beautiful village, South Brent, Devon, England. And we are kind of taken with the idea of putting in some unannounced hobbit holes in some of the valleys and the glades for public access and shelter. Their obviously good for private property as well. Or if you were looking to build an alternative campsite where people stayed in tree-houses or hobbit holes that I'm sure would be a marketable hliday alternative. There is a company here in England that has jsut recently started doing this. When it comes to this kind of trend, we are normally behind you guys, but I thouight i would mention it.

Hello all,

At this time of year it is often tough to find what you want or feel good about giving. Many of us prefer to give gifts that do some good in the world and I would like to offer a suggestion.

The link and search box below will place orders through amazon.com and will let you find most things that you are interested in, including products and sponsorships directly in support of The Realms of Legend, such as our sponsor a tree program.

The Realms of Legend is the project to build a historical and environmental education facility in the style of a themed entertainment venue which will showcase concepts for simpler living, eco friendly living and solutions for many of the problems our society faces in the coming years, all in a format of fun and engaging experiences.

Ordering via the search box at the link below will give the project a small commission and help us pursue the goal of educating a large number of people about the options we have for building a more healthy and sustainable future for all.

If you are looking for a gift that you can be sure will get there on time and allow the recipient to choose what suits them best you might consider one of the gift certificates. The E-Card form is instant and you don't have to waste paper or wait for postal services or you can choose a more traditional hard copy version.

So if you are considering giving some form of gifts during the holiday season or even in the future, please consider using the search box below. Your support will be greatly appreciated.

I hope you all have a very fulfilling holiday season.

One of my favorite games is "Worry the Neighbors" so, I would like some very interesting oddities in either plantlife, outdoor sculpture (I'm poor, so nothing really expensive) or odd things that I can hang from hooks in the beams of the awning.
I'm normally not a big proponent of TV, but if you get the HGTV channel, check out Offbeat America. It's a great show that shows some awesomely weird houses. Info on the show:
http://www.hgtv.com/hgtv/shows_hoba

On one of episode of Offbeat America, I saw a place in New Mexico they called the "Earthship", and after doing a search I found out that wasn't the particular house, but rather the company that makes a type of house they call Earthships. They are made from old car tires, dirt, and adobe or concrete. I'm thinking about buying property in New Mexico (as it's pretty cheap) and building one of these, and going "off the grid":

I’m a photographer in the Boston area looking for designers who make funky, psychedelic furniture and other articles for an editorial photo shoot I’m planning. The editorial would consist of 5-6 pages of images and the goal (of course) is to get it published in a good fashion/design magazine. My focus right now is finding the furniture but I’m always interested in hearing from clothing or accessories designers, makeup artists, and models (high fashion, editorial style only – not looking for commercial models).

I was very inspired by some work I noticed the other night in the window of a local gallery (Mobilia Gallery in Cambridge). You can get an idea what I’m thinking by checking out images from the below artists.

The jist of this is that I went into Mobilia to speak with the owner/manager about using some of the pieces in a shoot, and she could not have been less enthusiastic. She was faux-polite but painfully dismissive. So, it looks like I’m not going to get the shoot done there or with their assistance. I guess her gallery and artists don't want the visibility.

Anyway, are you a designer creating this sort of work? Do you have some of these elements that you could bear seeing in a magazine photo spread with a few gorgeous colorfully made-up models? If so, drop me an e-mail and let’s make something cool happen. These would be high-style, high-fashion shots. Nothing tacky or porny.

Check my work at:
http://www.zigzaglens.com

In order to ameliorate concerns about moving pieces around, I am willing to do the shoot at your location if the space will accommodate it. I supply the models, makeup, wardrobe, lighting, etc. I will cover any related expenses. We will have to touch the pieces and interact with them but we will do so carefully and respectfully. It will take an entire day. I will need a simple property release from you that gives me permission to use the photos. I will, of course, include a designer credit in the editorial.

Here's what I'm thinking stylistically:

Rob Gartzka:

Michael Hosaluk:
http://tinyurl.com/5oxa8

Michael Cullen:
http://tinyurl.com/5aqx6

Michael DeForest:

Craig Nutt:

Hi, I am Niall, I am new to the group. I think I will fit in and hope I will add some interesting ideas and cross some design lines.

For starters, I live in the home I grew up in, sort of, after being out on my own and married 2 times, my mother became single and unable to support herself. I moved in and took over the lower half of the two story house. And the yard.

Before my wife died she said she wanted to live in a castle, so I started work making my princess happy, that is the base I am starting with an my sanity or lack there-of will be my guide.

There is a woodstove on a brick raise that made an area separate from the rest of the room and useless. The first thing I did was build a 5 foot tall platform out of an old waterbed frame. I made a framework with an access door under it and my bed on top of it.

I have not taken pictures of the bed so I wanted to describe that and from there I will let the pictures take over.

I'd love input (I love compliments but will not admit it here) I am aware that there was a great mess try to look past it, when I took the last batch of pictures, I was pre neck surgery and if I sat still for more than 10 min I would horribly cramp up and construction was my only release... Enjoy!

My wedding was medieval themed, too, I did it all myself. So, you know, I love to decorate, I love medieval. My dream, in fact, is to SOMEDAY buy a large piece of land and build my OWN castle. I know, big dreams.
